Boarding in Ancona per Igoumenitsa

DAY 2

After the arrival in Igoumenitsa, the tour starts to reach Metsovo, on Pindo mountains, driving for 120 km and passing throw “Egnatia Odos”, the famous highway that connect the western port to the eastern border with Turkey. After the visit of Metsovo with a short tour by foot, we drive in off road 80 km to reach Tzoumerka, the less known but the area biggest of Epiro. Long the way, it’s possible to have a break for a pic nic on Acheloos River. Arrival in the hotel for the dinner and the Welcome Party.

DAY 3

The destination of the day is Meteora, a very famous village considered an UNESCO world heritage thanks to its many natural stone towers and thanks to the 24 monasteries built on the imposing cliffs. We pass through Pindos Mountain with a trail of 90 km to visit its suggestive monastery, one of the most important of this area. The tour continues to reach Grevena with others 80 km on off road and a bit of highway with a break for a pic nic near the village. Arrival in the hotel.

DAY 4

The destination of the day is Florina, on the border with Albania and the Republic of Macedonia. The off-road goes up Askio and Nimfeo mountains, with the visit of Prespes Lake. In the afternoon, the tour continues towards Kastoria, located on the outskirts of western Macedonia, known for the production of furs and an artistic heritage of 54 beautiful Byzantine and medieval churches.

DAY 5

Still 90 km on off road to reach Zagoria, the “land of stone bridges”, characterized by nearly 50 traditional mountain villages with picturesque stone houses. The last stop before returning to the port of Igoumenitsa is the town of Ioannina, where you can admire its beautiful Orthodox monasteries, built on an island in the center of the lake. In the evening, boarding to return to Italy.
