ITINERARY

A full day in the nature of Garfagnana with its traditions, its specialities and surrounded by the two most important mountainous group of the area, Apuan Alps and the Apennine

Our Tours are open to everybody, friends and families with teenagers, children and animals.

If you participate with your own 4×4, we don’t need any particular preparations, we only require it works perfectly

Different kinds of accomodazione: rustic and charming houses, holiday homes, luxury hotels and family, ancient villages. Some of them with indoor and outdoor pools, wellness center and SPA.

Departure at about 9.30 from Barga to reach on asphalt the village of Fiattone where we start the off road with a beautiful view on Serchio Valley. The trail continues until the village of Palleroso close to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, the heart of the big area of Garfagnana.

We pass through the small city to reach another small village of the area called Gragnanella. From here we enter on off road until the beautiful lake of the village where a break to take a picture it’s a must. We leave the lake passing through the typical chestnut woods to reach the near village of Sillicano where the off road starts to be a bit challenging but exciting. At the end of the steep the view opens on the valley and on the Apennine.

At the exit of the off road we are in the village of Croce di Stazzana with the possibility to stop to visit its characteristic Shrine, a very panoramic point.

Again on off road through a wonderful and thick pine forest to reach Foce in Careggine on the slopes of Volsci Mount ( mt 1627 s.l.m ).

Lunch break in a typical restaurant with the view on the best peaks of the Apuan Alps: Panie, Pisanino, Tambura and Sumbra.

After lunch the tour continues on off road until Vagli lake with its imposing artificial dam, the biggest in the area. This lake is very know because under its waters there is the ancient village of Fabbriche di Careggine submerged at the time of the construction of the dam.

Compulsory is the visit at the village of Campocatino on the slopes of Roccandagia Mount where Leonardo Pieraccioni set his film “Il Mio West”.

From here we continue following the “Sentiero del Fungo” passing through Roggio to reach Poggio.

Come back on asphalt to reach Barga with the possibility of some other trails on off road.
